Learners work towards a portfolio based vocational qualification in either Animal Care or Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development (SET PD). The level of qualification will depend on your previous achievements and learning and also your initial assessment, for example most learners will start at Entry 3 Animal Care because they come onto the course with little previous knowledge of animal care.
You will be expected to complete portfolio work set and also to complete any work missed. This work should be then submitted to tutors via email for them to mark and send back to you with feedback.
Functional Skills Maths and English is assessed through exams. The level of qualification will depend on your previous achievements. The structure of the exams are:
Maths 2-part exam (completed on the same day): paper non-calculator and calculator paper
English 3-part exam (completed on 3 separate dates): speaking and listening, writing and reading.
