Concessionary Travel Pass

Your young person may have the opportunity to go offsite for certain activities, including work experience, educational visits or as part of enrichment. The staff and learners often use public transport to travel which is an excellent opportunity to build life skills.

A Concessionary Travel Pass from Nexus, offering free or subsidised travel, is sometimes available via your local authority and must be applied for directly from the council (see guidance below). In order to travel on public transport at peak times, you will need to specifically request an All Day Concessionary Travel Pass or upgrade to you pass to this. Some of our learners have bus passes which are due to expire and some may be applying for the first time. Please note, not all students may be eligible.

Key information regarding the CT Pass can be found here ➔ Nexus CT Pass

Bridge Card

If your young person has difficulty accessing public transport, you can also apply for a Bridge Card. This does not grant free or subsidised travel (this would be the CT pass) but alerts the transport team that a little more time or consideration is needed for your young person. This would cover those with mobility issues, if help is needed with counting the fare or providing extra guidance for when to get off, etc. Please see the Bridge Card Leaflet and find out more from Nexus by clicking here.
